Electric hobs use heat elements to transfer heat to the bottom of your cooking pans. The disadvantage of this is that they can take some time to heat up and cool down. Induction hobs work using a high-frequency electromagnet which creates a high-frequency electromagnetic field. When the field comes in contact with the cooking vessel it induces a circulating electric current which in turn generates heat.
