It’s always best to practice good laundry hygiene in order to prevent germs spreading and to keep your household looking and smelling fresh. Maintaining a healthy environment stems from a few simple changes to keep your home clean and tidy. We would always recommend for each of our customers to regular clean out their washing machine and to use a high quality laundry detergent which has antibacterial properties because this helps to stop the spread of bacteria and germs.

The washing powder or detergent you use is a personal preference and dependent on your skin. In order to maintain your machine, we would recommend choosing from a leading brand such as Fairy, Ariel or Daz. These reputable brands understand machine and skincare ensuring your clothes are clean and your machine doesn’t form any build-up.

If you are in need of washing machine repairs in Gloucester, look no further than our team of engineers. We fix 99% of faults on our first visit, and there is no additional charge if a further visit is required.

Extra hygiene needed items:

Items such as kitchen tea towels, cleaning cloths, towels and bed linen will contain more germs. Any item used by someone who is ill or if the item contains bodily fluids such as sweat of faeces should also be treated with extra hygiene.

1. Start by separating these items from the rest of your laundry.

2. Use an antibacterial laundry detergent and place the load on a long hot wash. We would suggest 60.

3. Wash your hands after dealing with this laundry.

4. Ensure all items are clean, dry and smelling fresh before using them again.

How to keep your machine clean

In order to prevent germs and keep your machine running efficiently, we would advise you to keep your machine’s drum clean. It’s a quick and easy job and something that should be done once a month.

If you have an automatic dosing machine such as the Bosch i-DOS, you can run a ‘clean programme’ and this will clean your machine’s drum.

If you don’t please follow the below instructions:

  1. Add the recommended amount of Bosch washing machine cleaner to your washing machines drum or you can use bicarbonate of soda and a disinfectant such as Zoflora concentrated disinfectant.
  2. Run a full 90-degree programme with nothing in the machines.
  3. And your drum is clean.
